Muay Thai Dallas was conceived as a hybrid between authentic Thai training camps and Western martial arts schools.

We wanted to combine the laid-back style of all things Thai with some of the organized aspects of Western training methods.

As such, we provide both directed training sessions and open-gym times where you can begin to steer your own course in your Muay Thai journey.

The training is organized into 3 levels which are co-dependent

  • Foundation
    • First and foremost your conditioning is the foundation of your training. This means you have sharpened your mind and body through regular and repeated practice so you can perform the art of Muay Thai. With time you will develop the strength, stamina and balance to execute the techniques that comprise the art. Almost everything you do in the gym feeds this foundation level whether it be shadow boxing, skipping rope, core-training, stretching, strength training, heavy bag training, pads, etc. Over the course of a lifetime you will spend the most time maintaining this level and while you do it will pay continued dividends.
  • Toolbox
    • Toolbox refers to the specific techniques that you have mastered. This level of training is your shadowboxing, bag work, clinching and pad work. The tools that you have in your toolbox can be as simple as a particular punch or as complicated as a combination of moves with their necessary footwork. This level of training is also where you start to see a real separation in different coach's knowledge and communication abilities.
  • Strategy
    • Lastly, strategy encompasses the application of the other levels. The application of strategy ranges from preparation for a specific opponent in a professional match to a general approach to dealing with opponents of different sizes and skill-sets. Strategic practice occurs in technical pad sessions, sparring, clinching and most often in Thailand, your trainer screaming over a roaring crowd between rounds of a professional bout.

What will you actually do at Muay Thai Dallas?

A typical training session lasts about an hour. It begins with shadow boxing or skipping rope at your own pace or on an interval timer. After the warm-up, students will move on to whatever that day's training is going to focus on, as directed by the head trainer according to your experience level and particular goals. This will be heavy-bag work, pad work, technique-based partner drills and so on. Additionally, we run interval training sessions that have boxers alternating between boxing and weight training. The gym is outfitted with a power rack and a complete set of weights, additionally, the gym is located on the Trinity Strand trail if you'd like to get some running in before or after training.
